257 miles down...

243 to go.

I'm telling on myself, but I had to refine my short term and long term fuel trims so I figured I might as well make a couple of passes in order to get the rest of my fuel map to where it was near where it should be.

Wow. And I've got my boost controller (UTEC) turned all the way down, too.

I'm starting to be a little curious about all of these engine's going south; at least since I've been watching that forum.

In chronological order:

Need a motor

another one who needs a MOTOR

...and just today
another one bites the dust, 2.5L rod bearing

I'm gonna read these again, but I think they're all because of rings (improper break-in?)

Can being overly rich make a car feel like it's not firing on all 4?

Besides East Coast Suby's V7 heads, our motors are similar. I hope it isn't the block. I'll make note to always check my oil.

Thanks for the post, Pat.

Pat, do you feel much more torque, but experience an early death on the top end?

Yes...no.

I only have one real pass. I know I'm being silly for even pushing it, but I drove 150 miles last night. It was damn hard not to try once what the turbo feels like.

I have set the UTEC boost map to 200 (pretty low) across the board and turned the auxilliary boost controller completely shut. I still peaked at 20psi. That's the last time I do it until I hit 500 miles...I swear.

Also, although the MAF readings looked fine, I'm seeing on Nasioc where some are saying that a large turbo like the green needs a larger MAF tube. I don't really know what to make of it.

It's odd, but while the mild cruise AFRs were ~14.7:1, the DD was saying that the trim was too rich around 3000 rpms, so I leaned it by a .1 and the roughness went away. I just didn't want to ask the question, "do you think I may be missing?"

It's not rough now.

This whole tuning bit is so weird to me. Generally, I know what I'm doing, but in a lot of cases, I don't know why. In some areas, I don't understand the how or why one thing is related to another.

Like with trims. To me, it would seem as if I'm simply tuning 0-crossover point AFRs by tuning the 0 column. Why on earth does the 0 column correspond to upper load/rpm smoothness? I can't find that answer anywhere. Also, why would a larger turbo need a larger MAF tube? Is it as simple as the compressor wheel is able suck more cfm than a 2.5" (I think mine is 2.5") can flow? Is it because the MAF tends to max out it voltage readings due to the 2.5" cfm?

I'm getting technical. I'll post in the EM forum, too. I'm just certain that I won't get too many hits.
