2015 STI dyno numbers
Looking at the numbers some have gotten from this new stock ECU tune for the '15 EJ257, Subaru may have advertised an underrated power output of 305hp of the previous years from more potent actual figures of 315-330hp (with 20-25% AWD loss) for this year. Other than the much improved suspension and handling upgrade and better interior, I am happy to say I am lucky to have waited to get this year's model...

It depends on the dyno if you look on NASIOC there some dyno plots that say 268whp stock another that say stage 1 246whp for the 2015. One of the tuners did say that he saw that the 2015 STi had more timing at redline then the other years.

kinda pointless since most people gonna mod at least to stage one where the tune will be completely different from the factory tune. same engine, same power. unless people with 15s are gonna keep it stock? o___O

Did you see the numbers on the 2nd dyno pic? The 2015 EJ257 at stage 1 makes the same, if not, more power than the previous EJ257 at stage 2!! I would like to see what it's capable of at stage 2 with this new stock ECU tune. I know Subaru engineers just cleaned up the timing under the curve and possibly added more at the top but stock numbers are pretty impressive.

Says it all right there "a baseline pull on a 'mustang dyno.'" Mustang dynos are not very accurate. I pulled my miata on one after going to a shop that had one that connect to the rear axle. Went from 310hp to 260hp.

Fairfield Suabru has a 10k mark up on their STis. I hope you didn't pay anything like that. A buddy bought 2015 WRX, after driving it I wouldn't buy the sti. It's fast, has a 6speed, and only needs brembos and wheels imo. If I'm going to pay good money, might as well get the new engine option. STI has the same heart as previous years, just had a face transplant. Not worth the money..

I paid no markup price for my STI. Alot of people dont understand that the '15 STI is more than just the extra displacement, huge wing, 50 STI badges, bigger wheels, and Brembos. It has a different and beefier 6-speed drivetrain with 3 diffs, a new tune that perhaps surpasses the advertised old 305hp figure, improved interior (comparing base WRX to base STI), and much, much tighter suspension. Most of the time, I've noticed that people only rely on power mods when comparing to two but don't step back and look at the entire picture of a balanced car. The WRX is great for everyday driving with its torquey new engine, and is no doubt an awesome test mule for a possible FA20 STI in the future, but it's more of an affordable enthusiasts' option whereas the STI is the "no sh*t-*****-to-the-wall" car that it ready for anything straight off the showroom floor.
