1000 mile break-in period

This topic has probably been discussed before, but I still need a few more opinions before I do so. I am a couple of more commutes away from 1000 miles on my STi, and am planning to do an oil change. I plan to run some sort of synthetic, brand is still up in the air though. I've been told by a few that I should wait until at least 1500 before going to synthetic, as synthetic does not break in an engine properly. I'd really appreciate opinions on this matter, especially from you hard core "tech-heads" out there.

I thought about changing the oil w/synthetic at 1K too, but I've read too many posts recommending against it... I'm just over 1,000 miles, and I'm increasing my rev limit from 4K to 7K gradually as I get to 1,500 miles when I'll definitely run it hard to redline. I guess I'll change the oil then w/reg dino oil, then switch to synthetic at around 4K. Do you guys think there'll be a noticeable advantage in using synthetic? I've also read that once you go synthetic, you should always use synth...

Aloha shiroikage ,

I've had this challenge with many customers so I asked my experts here at the dealership and with other opinions throughout my stay here.

I have come to the conclusion that... since STi's are pre run at the factory like many other high end vehicles like Benz, Porsche, Lamberghinnnnni and da like already have Mobile 1 straight from the factory.

Also to break in a vehicle with regular oil these days "is an old myth"?!?.... hmmm you decide.

Aloha,

Nino <><
