I just want to clarify what the donation is for:
-We are asking a minimum donation of $10 to Aloha United Way. For every $10 that you donate, you will be given a raffle ticket for the lucky pot drawings. The more you give the more chances of winning the cool prizes. Please fill out the forms and you will be given a receipt from AUW. Proceed to the “registration desk” as soon as you come in.
More stuff:
- There will be another coloring contest for the kids this year so bring the keiki's with you!!!
-If you are coming in early for the Pre-cruise Swap Meet Sale please set up “shop” as early as you please. We will be there as early as 0730.
-Don’t forget the camera and camcorders! I know we have a handful of professional photographers here, so make sure that your batteries are fully charged!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Donations & Proceeds will go to Aloha Unite Way!!
Mission for Aloha United Way:
To improve lives, motivate people to help others, increase resources to meet needs and inspire collective solutions to community problems.
History Behind Aloha United Way:
Aloha United Way began serving Hawaii’s people in 1919 when Frank C. Atherton established the United Welfare Fund under the jurisdiction of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce. The United Welfare Fund was formed to create a more efficient way to raise money for 17 charitable institutions, bringing in $186,000 its first campaign year.
The United Welfare Fund became a separate legal entity in 1938. The new organization was renamed the Honolulu Community Chest and combined with the National War Fund for the duration of World War II. In 1966, a citizens’ committee dissolved the Honolulu Community Chest and created the Aloha United Fund. Lowell Dillingham was named president and forty-two agencies participated in the Fund the first year.
The Aloha United Fund officially changed its name to Aloha United Way in 1974 to maintain uniformity between similar federated giving organizations throughout the country and its national service bureau, United Way of America.
During the 1990s, Aloha United Way shifted from a focus on fundraising to a focus on improving community issues. Several key issues, such as homelessness and early childhood development, were identified and targeted for long-term improvement through key partnerships and advocacy.
Aloha United Way has evolved along with the community. Over its long history of caring for people on Oahu, Aloha United Way has raised millions of dollars for health and human services, brought together the efforts of thousands of volunteers and helped build a stronger, healthier community.

nice banner walt! hope we fill it with more sponsors!
to Everyone...we are hoping that you support this event again this year. we realize that the economy is still struggling, but if you read the news yesterday, more people in hawaii live in poverty now. the contributions that you give will go directly to the people who are in need. that's the beauty of Aloha United Way, because the help that you give, stays in our community.
we hope to see you all there on oct. 17...bring the ohana and have lots of fun!
