08 STI pictures and my new V4 STI
So there was a one day deal at Subaru in the paper today. My wife made the mistake of telling me about and and I was there when the doors opened to get this car. I am not sure what my plans are for it yet, but it is in nicer shape body-wise than my STI RA. I will be only the second owner for the car and it has a whopping 232,000 km on it. It has several minor problems I will get around to fixing soon.
This is the cheapest STI I have ever seen on Okinawa and at Subaru no less. I am pretty sure this is a V4. The wife even approved my purchase and was happy to help.
Some pictures of the new STIs. I test drove the gunmetalish one:

Nate, congratulations on the purchase, that is one clean-looking GC, I love the way the seats look, very supportive-looking (USDM STi seats suck!). So please give us your driving impression of the new STi. I think we have to wait till February/March of next year to see one. Shagz, I hope there is one to test drive, 'cuz I want to.

The mainland already has them for sale. I thought Hawaii gets it first since we are closer to Japan? ...Probably not because it has to go to the mainland first for inspection? Then Hawaii will be one of the last places for allocation?

Damn Nate-osan. But I'm confused?? Did you p/u the 08STI or the V4 STI?? Either way nice cars. And you guys have a beautiful daughter. You got pics of Indichan yet??? Take care, and enjoy your new toy.

Well the new STI is wonderful. I wish that I could take that white one home. The biggest issue is going to be that the stock tires are awful. I have no idea why Subaru went back to RE-92 quality tires on the STI. Every STI should come with RE01Rs. With the new suspension the back end of the STI seems to track behind the front a lot better than in the past. The test drive route for Subaru is amazing. The only way it could be better is if it was on a closed course. When I pushed the 08 STI into a corner hard other than its ****ty tires crying like a stuck pig it would grip the who way and not throw the *** end out. Where this V4 that I bought yesterday got quite sideways on the same turns with much better tires. People have been reporting that the 08 STI understeers horribly. That may be true, but I wasn't able to understeer during my test drive.

I got this for 300,000 yen choro (exactly) which almost never happens in Japan. Here companies advertise lower prices and then charge you $1,000 cleaning fee and all kinds of BS. At 110.5 yen to the dollar that is ~$2,700.

The more I hear on the tires, the more I think Subaru struck a deal with Dunlop for some surplus tires that didn't sell too well. Can't find any info on them at all, even on Dunlop's site.
If Subaru added better popular tires with the BBS package, the cost increase could've been justified.
nice V4 btw!
I'm really tempted to get one, but I want to see it in person and test drive it first .

So Nate, how's life these days? What do you do? Do you race a lot? Does your wife beat you around the track?
Can you speak Japanese fluently? Do you hit your head on doorways?
