There are threads posted throughout this forum in the general sections, but the general consensus puts the new MY2008 STI over $40k I mean , i like the car a lot, but don't want to pay close to $1k a month in car payments. I would get a beemer instead. If i do get one, it will be used, that i can say for sure. I'm not paying over $40k for any subaru, well maybe those rare ones spec-c, 22b, etc.
But not for a regular production car. Good luck though!!

The thing about this STI is... It's becoming comparable to a BMW. Power, Refinement... This is a stepping stone for Subaru, in a more upscale direction... which unfortunately is not good for people who loved the STI as a "bargain" car. It's 40 grand because it's worth it.

also unfortunate is that is how a lot of sportscar start life as....a cheap good performance car...then over the years $$$ kick in....and suddenly from a cheap fun car to a not so affordable expensive fun car...rofl

example.... ford mustang 5.0's what a bargain back in the late 80's -mid 90's could you beat a car like this for price and performance when you could buy it new for around $15K

RX-7's...Supra's....Camaro's....300Z's they all were once cheap if not now extinct because of the low number of sales due too high performance prices.

what makes things worse is working for companies in hawaii that dont give high enough raises each year to keep up with the living costs of inflation here.

It doesn't seem unlikely to get into an STi for under $40k with the base SOA MSRP at ~$35640.

If my wife could drive stick and I could get someone to pick up my S4 I'd certainly be looking!

i hate the fact that the sti is becoming more refined. its soon gonna be a car that 40 something yr old businessman are gonna want to drive. i dont wanna be in that kinda crowd haha. thats why i love my 04, noisy and harsh. oh well hopefully some deals will go down and i can pick up an 08 for invoice.
