'05 LGT Wagon...good?
I'm in the market and looking to get an '05 LGT Wagon 5spd. but have a few questions I hope you Subaru Gurus can answer.
How good/bad is the Turbo on this car?
What are the problem areas I should be looking at if any?
How reliable is this model?
What is a fair price for say one with low/high miles in good shape?
What is the handling like with this car?
How easy/difficult is it to work on this car to do minor maint. i.e. brakes, oil, clutch etc.?
And most important, are there Mods for this car and how difficult/easy are they to install?
I've checked out some sites cobb??? but it seems like most mods are for the sedan model and not the wagon.
Any feedback on this car is greatly appreciated as I don't know much about this model or Subarus in general...but I'm working on that!
Mahalo!

I bought an '05 LGT Wagon this year. I love this car. I had a pretty nice Impreza Wagon. I like this better. It's no where near as supped up as the Impreza, but very trick. Most mods in terms of the power train are the same. The LGT does have a few differences, IC, turbo, DP. The Wagon is about 4" longer than the sedan. Exhausts are hard to come by. Not many companies are making them any more due to Subaru discontinuing the LGT Wagon. As you begin to mod the car it becomes less reliable. That's any car. It's got great power, very quick, ride really nice.

If you can find a 5-spd wagon I recomend you pick it up. Not only were the wagons discontinued all together for 08, but 5-spds were only produced in 05.
I'm sure reliability and maintenance are the same as any other WRX/STI. Almost all mods for the sedan are compatible with the wagon except CBE.

Pflueger had two 05 LGT Wagon 5spd with low miles back in early '07 when they took the inventory from Waialae Subaru. I ended up buying the base LGT (with black fabric seats and black interior and less than 80 miles) but the LGT Limited with tan leather was still there up until about summer time last year. I haven't looked to see if it was there for awhile though.

Mahalo for the tips!
I'm hoping to get a 5spd, but I need to sell some of my other cars first. No sense having more than one car if I can only drive one at a time....damn I must be getting old!
Talked with Shaggy a bit and if I can swing it I'll have an LGT soon enough.
Not looking to mod the car any time soon, I just got through modding my other cars and now I'm selling them, so the mod gods are going to have chill for awhile. I was more concerned about the reliability of the turbo, only because I have never owned or worked on a turbo before. I drove turbos, just never tinkered with them.
I was told as long as they are lubricated it's okay...so how is it lubed?
Is it motor oil?
Is there a separate sump? Pump?
What viscosity do these cars run on...my current cars use 20w50 Amsoil.
Sorry for the noob questions and I know I should be doing a search, but just thought I'd ask anyway.

the turbo is self lubbed with engine oil so you dont need to do anything. my 91 turbo legacy is still running around somewhere so i don't think you need to worry about reliability. as far as oil goes 5 or 10w30 is fine. go for it and let us know what you decide on
