Smile 05 interior Turbo Timer install suggestion

im not sure if any one else did this already but ive been dying to custmize somthing interior wise.... i got me the greddy timer, nice and simple. sure extra features would be great, but i wont always use them. my first plan was to jam im the timer in my ash try (2005 interior) and cut and paint a sheet metal frame. when i got home i found out it didnt fit!!

to keep it short i basically seperated the screen and buttons from the main unit by disassembling the whole timer.very simple. there is however cutting involved. so its like the apexi timer, hehe. enjoy the pics and let me know what you think.

-JT

closed tray

timer and interior ripped apart

timer main board mounted over ash tray

timer in action 3secs on the clock

red backlight

i know its not needed but i think its a cool feature

i believe its because our subarus turbos are water cooled. the have a water feed line. you probably only need it with a highly upgraded turbo or something like that... wasnt there a debate on this forum???

Turbo timers are unnecessary on Subarus because coolant will continue to circulate through the center section even after the engine is stopped, through convection. You still wouldn't want to go hammering the car up a hill in top gear at 2000 RPM with 6 people in it and then immediately shut off the motor, but if you've been off the throttle for even a minute or two before you shut it off you're fine. Subaru has a TSB on the issue plus an article in their internal tech bulletin magazine, but I forget what I did with mine on this computer. Anyways, if it's installed properly it doesn't hurt anything.

Nice work...unecessary...but still nice  for you!

I guess it's still nice to have as an extra extra extra safety feature. The good thing is you only need to set it to keep the car on for like a minute or so.

thanks everyone, thanks for the banana too. i was afraid i was gonna get the "you dont need it!". so i stated i know i dont. Everyone seems cool here tho. other things can probably go on that spot. boost control or what ever. i like it hidden so it wont be another reason to break in the car.

i just noticed i typed on the post above "see that receipt water and bottle?" i meant water bottle hahaha

if anyone else jams any other device in there i wanna see it. maybe ill copy you haha
