that's a toughie....

intake???...100-200....
manual boost controler...100-150...
intercooler hoses...150-200...
race gas???...$6/gal....

there isn't very much you can get for under $200...

i say invest in a downpipe...they run in the 300-400 range...depending on the brand...

also get yourself a cat back exhaust....they run in the 500-600 range....

give me and nate $100 and we'll teach ou how to drive. that will improve your times. you don't need to go faster, your car is already fast. work on your suspension and braking. thats the best thing.

**disclaimer** I do not claim to have any driving skills. I can however give you some pointers. You know what Dan, this Saturday is AutoX. You need to come out. Then you will see what the track is really all about. I say get SS brake lines. Who cares how fast you can go if you can't stop?

you don't need driving skills for the 1/4 mile. a blind man could do the 1/4 mile. what you do know is how to launch and shift an sti. i just wanna come along for the $$$.

Sorry to hi-jack. But what do the SS lines do? I was talking to one of my friends (a mechanic) who said that SS lines don't do anything. He said they are just rubber ones coverd with SS braided hose. Just curious and no flaming please

it firms up your brake response since the hoses won't expand or flex under the pressure like rubber ones. everyone who has done the swap has said it made a difference.

Okay, the question was: What is the best upgrade for under $200 to help out on the drag strip for sti..? The answer: a used downpipe would be the most effective upgrade for the 1/4 mile. I have seen my best time improvements (.25 - .35) with a downpipe.
