Will WRX exhaust fit an GC8?
I am looking at replacing the greddy EVO II that came with my car with something a little more suttle. I cant seem to find a Borla hush system offered for the RS. Would the WRX system fit with some work at all?

on WRXs does the exhaust trvel under the rear diff/ rear axels or do the squeeze it above? i am wondering cuase i am thinking of putting an aftermartket WRX exhaust onto my 2.2 impreza. i am uncertain justg cuase i have lowered, and cannot tell if the exhaust could have possibly fit over the axles.
probobly a stupid question so pls dont flame me for asking.

well here is the one that i just picked up for my 2.5..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT
It looks like it was made to go under....
you will actully be doing more harm than good with an after market exhaust for your 2.2...
every thing i have read states that for the n/a imprezas you dont want to go over 2.25in tube. all the after market wrx exhausts i have seen have a 3inch tube.
I will keep every one posted on how my install goes.. it will be about a week before i get the exhaust system and the new header should be here mid next week.
I figgure i will leave the stock muffler on the wrx system and if it isnt loud enough or powerfull enough I will change the muffler.... every one knows that if your car isnt fast enough just change the muffler.

ok, I know you decided to go a diffrent route but i just installed my wrx.
so for all of you who are thinking of doing this ... enjoy
I started off by taking some side by side pics... notice the last hanger before the muffler on the rs it is on the drivers side of the tube and on the wrx its on the passingers.
the tube size does not look that impressive from the pics but the wrx one is alot bigger!!
you cant tell by the picture but the wrx flange is too big to just bolt up to the rs cat section so its not just a simple matter of cutting the flange loose and rotating it.
I hung the wrx exhaust in place, all the hangers lined up except for the one just before the muffler (as stated before)
with the wrx exhaust in place you can see the diffrences in the rotation of the flanges and also there is a bit of a gap with the exhaust 'swinging' naturally. the good news is the resonator section on the wrx clears just fine so you dont need to remove it... if your worried about such a thing.... I am not so i offed it.

now this part of the install is all what you want to do.. this is just what i did. I am not saying that it is the ideal way to get the job done but it worked for me...
I first cut the rs exahust flange off with about 2 inches of pipe still attached. I then clamped the narrowed end of a 2 1/8" tail pipe section to the flange and cut the tail pipe section so there was enough of the large end to clamp to, this made a handy 'adaptor'section. the 2 1/8" pipe slides into the wrx exhaust easily. I used the rest of the tail pipe section to be in place of the resonator.
I bolted the flange with the 'adaptor' section to the cat section and then bolted up the rest of the midpipe .. i adjusted all the pipe so nothing rubbed , once all my clearences were right I clamped every thing in place. As soon as i get my friend down to the auto shop at work we will weld all the pipes, relocate the hanger that was on the wrong side of the tube, and remove the clamps.
the supplies i needed to do this (with replacing the resonator) are as fallows:
1- 2 1/8" tail pipe section (approximently 1 1/2 to 2 feet long)
3- 2 1/4 pipe clamps
1- 1 7/8 pipe clamp
It sounds mean and grumbly... I like it alot!!
