Starters...are they (interchangeable between engine models)

Starters...are they compatible

I have the 1.8l motor, will starters from other subaru motors work ie forester, legacy, wrx, 2.0l, 2.2l, 2.5l?? please help as mine went today

usually the bolt and the gear does but the conncetor might be different

They should. However, I am sure that 1.8L starter is weaker than the 2.5L starter. Upgreade is ok, but do not downgrade as it might not crank over a larger displacement motor.
