Rebuilding engine. Need advise.
Hey guys,
I'm rebuilding my 99' RS's engine and need some advise. For some reason, it has to stay N/A. So for, I only have some simple bolt-ons. But I've bought some internals that will be put into the motor maybe next week. Here is the question. After all the upgrades of those internals, do I need to upgrade my ECU also? Or should I get a piggy back system, ie: emanage(prefered), S AFC-II. My only concern is not to get a CEL. If I can sqeeze some more HPs by adding a piggy back system will be a plus. I've considered getting my ECU reflashed by i-speed and sent them an email with a list of my mods more than 2 weeks ago, but so far....not a word from them... The car have to be completed and ready to be shipped to Taiwan by December because I'm moving back. So, I'm kinda running short on time here. Please HELP!!
below is a list of my mods:
lightened pulley.
full MRT exhaust system
Cobb CAI
11lb flywheel
ACT street clutch set
Sti mounts (engine and tranny)
Crawford performance pistons (CR 11.2:1)
79mm Phase II Crank, Rear Thrust
Sti Rods
Cobb "spicy" cams (coming in really late.....)
What else shouuld I get to make a reliable but fast enough RS with limited budget?
Oh, also a minor thing...Is there anyone who has a full MRT exhause system passed WA emission test? My licence plate tag is due to renew by the end of November. I've been thinking about whether I should get the inspection done and renew the tag or not since the car will still be around for a couple of days in December. It is my only car. I do need it to help me moving. But I've thrown away my stock exhausts due to lack of storage space.....
Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone who's kind enough to drop in and give a few words!
