Someone else said that most people prefer the proECM over the Torque chip. They also said that the Torque chip didn't show any enhancements on the DYNO. I guess they do pretty much the same thing, just one adds more torque supposedly.

The Torque Chip was designed to alter the torque curve and not really meant to add more hp. I have a copy of the dyno test sheet here in a folder from JC Sports when it was in open ot the public. When I do buy engine parts, I only buy parts that have a dyno sheet to show e something other than a claimed number. Even at that level it all depends on the dyno, weather, altitude, settings, etc. . Just use your own best judgement and choose what you think will work best for your car and your driving.

It will give you better acceleration to exit a corner. Actually more torque provides better driving on the street, but on the track you definitely want more HP! I have the torque chip v.2.8 in my car, and I like it very much. I believe it gives you HP too while it boost up the torque b/c I often race w/ my friend's car doing 0-100km and I do noticed that my car was faster when the chip is installed.

Not too impressed.
I have a 99OBS 2.2L and I got that chip like 2 years ago. My car sounded different but I didn't really notice any difference in power. I don't have much else done so I can never get my car to go fast enough to check and see if it takes the speed limiter out. I have a MAF and I was sent the wrong chip (the one for a MAP), so I sent it back and got the right one after much confusion and explaining then had the new chip malfunction. I tried to help the distributer by trying different resistors from Radio Shack with no positive results. I finally had another new on sent and it lasted till now, but as I said, I haven't noticed any power increase, just the sound. I'm sure it is adding power though. If I were you and had some cash to spend, I would get it. My 2 cents.

The instructions should be enough. But if they aren't: your ecu is under the carpet where a front passengers feet would be. The instructions will tell you which wires to cut (about 2 or 3). I believe connectors are provided so you don't have to solder. Like I said before make sure you find a good ground. That's it .

MAKE SURE YOU CUT THE WIRES ABOUT 10 INCHES FROM THE CPU!!!!! I cut a bit to close from the ECU and it can become quite a B!$@# if you have problems and have to recut. I used the mounting screws for the ECU cover as a ground and it worked well if you clean the area with some sand paper or croacas cloth. I need to find those instructions again. I can't remember where I hid them.

Since this isnt NASIOC (where anyone who talks trash about the torque chip or the proecm gets shut down fast) let me state something...
AVOID BOTH OF THESE!!!
They do jack. Usually the ECU just learns around them. I have yet to see actual gains from either chip. Every single person I know of from nasioc who has had one for like a year or two sells them because they do jack. And several people have had issues where the chip has caused the engine to overheat (because it effects the sensor that deals with engine heat)
Spend the money elsewhere.

That guy's got a piont. I'd spent the cash elsewhere. Work on accelleration. Pulleys, intake, exhaust, clutch, flywheel, fuel system, ect... I don't think the chip is a wise investment from stories and it's price, not to mention I did have a few cooling system problems with my car after installing the ProECM chip.
