Opinion - Borla Header on 2000 2.2Liter
I am considering a Borla header for my 2.2Liter 2000 Outback sport. Other than a 2.25" catback the powertrain is stock. Is this worth the $$? How much power can I expect?
I was looking at Borla since it has a CARB #

Make sure to get the single port model of the Borla header for the 97-01 2.2's...
Anyway, Borlas are fun stuff, sound great, but dont do alot performance wise. They do tend to make the car drive a bit smoother, but I dont know about the 2.2 single ports that much.

... I've heard alot about these... and even considered them myself. But, people have said that to get the real gains and avoid cracks in the headers, you'll need to pair the headers with a hgh flow cat section. Otherwise, the pressure that builds in the hedaers can cause them to crack.
If you decide to get one though, look here- by far the best price I've seen. (You've got to click on the 'show special order parts' box) If you don't mind the wait- this'd be the way to go.

edit...looks like they upped the price recently, it used to be ~$256- the link in the post below has a better price.

I have the single ports on my L, i dont have a complaint yet they do sound great. www.ptuning.com also has the borla header for 262.95 with free shipping.
just search for part number PT17199 at the ptuning site.

I had some, they cracked, borla honored the warranty, I sold them. I'm considering getting custom ones, or possibly re- buying them, I've heard they have made a new "edition" or "model" if you will for the single ports in an attempt to eliminate the cracking problem.
They are loud. if it's your only mod, or other people drive your car you may want to choose a different mod.

But yes, 97-01 2.2 = Single port. I used to think it was just 98-01, but I test drove a 97 OBS and it was Single port as well... (rignt next to a 00 OBS, also single port)
