Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

on an 01 rs, if you were to remove the airbox put in a cone filter in place of where the airbox would hook upto the engine and remove the scoop vent would there be any gains in performance ?

you would have all the cold air you would want at speed but you will have issues with water hitting the filter and heat seepage from the block and trans..
I was too worried about the water to do this so what I did was opend the scoop and gutted the air box.... I cut off the back side of the air filter box I left the filter "frame" and a bit of the top of it, with a K&n filter it flows and feels exactly the same as the injen I had on it..
basicly what happens with mine is the rain watter hits the top of the box and dripps off the top never touches the filter and the cold air comes in, hits the firewall and into the intake.
