Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Post The N/A 200hp Barrier thread...

I'm dedicating this thread to what can be done after you have all the bolt ons possible for a N/A 2.5 (or other N/A motor)...

There has been alot of discussion about it before, and quite a few attempts at breaching 200hp with N/A Imprezas. It seems to me, as i'm sure it does to everyone, that after the bolt ons things start to get considerably more expensive and complicated, which is to be expected. However, it would be good to air out all of those possible methods and ideas about the subject...

It should only be a matter of getting a pair of ported heads with big enough valves and way stiff valvesprings, along with a big tall cam and some higher compression forged pistons, then a good ECU map to optimize the AFR's and ignition.
Build it to wind up to about 9grand and you should dyno well over 200 HP.

I wouldn't think it'd be too terribly difficult,

it certainly wouldn't be cheap,

just not too difficult.

it doesnt work like that.. the 2.5rs is rated at 165 hp at the crank so i would guess at 200 hp its probably at 170-180 whp.. depending what dyno.

what is the minumum, that needs to be done to reach it. that s what all of this is about? the most for the least, going big does not always mean better results. i used to sell snowboards and skis's i used to see this mentality all the time.
i want the stiffist carbon fiber board their is on the market, while you live on the eat coast and mostly ride ice so it kinda hinders you. i guess you have to ride a couple of different boards to see it(feel it).
what is the major components that need to be changed out, and i am ta;lking bolt on?

-equal length headers (i.e twe, cobb)
-hi flow cat or catless pipe (i.e random tech, stromung, custom catless)
-cat-back exhaust (i.e cobb, stromung, scoobysport)
-lightweight crank pulley or pulley set
-cold air intake (cobb, injen)
-cams (cobb, twe)
-little things like grounding kit, tb bypass mod,
-possible ecu reflash from I-speed (when it comes out)

these are a good start that should get you some great gains.

No track times but I was quoted at ~200hp at the crank. I'll be boosted by sunday.

you can change your throttle body to a bigger one, with high compression ratio piston and all those other things that goes with it. Then you can add some horsies to that.
