Got a used 2.5RS, want to switch to synthetic..?
The car has 55k miles on it, and I am not sure what oil the previous owner used. I want to switch to synthetic (Mobil1) but don't want to cause any problems. Anyone see anything bad with this idea?
Thanks,
Jacob

Yeah, the seals inside are already conditioned for conventional oil, what I would try is switching to a synthetic/conventional blend for a couple of oil changes, and then switch to a fully synthetic oil, such as Mobil 1

you should be ok for switching. but as for what kind of synthetic to use...just some food for thought, there is only 1 fully synthetic oil on the market, even though mobile, and everyone else claims to have "fully synthetic" they are less then 1/8th synthetic. dont belive me? go to an oil research website and check it out. what im trying to say is, USE AMSOIL! its worth its weight in gold
