Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

CEL - P303 - P304 - Help

I have a 98RS, 2.5-DOHC, The last while I have been getting P303/304 cylinders 3 and 4 misfire codes coming up on my car. At first it seamed to only to happen after traveling at higher speeds 140 - 150 Km/h. Now it seams to do it at lower speeds as well. I have replaced plugs and wires. The service advisor at one of the dealerships sugested swapping the injectors for 3&4 and 1&2 to see if the codes changed banks. Does anyone know how the coil works on these cars, it looks like there is a +12v, Gnd and trigger wire into the coil pack, does this mean that all 4 cylinders spark at the same time or is there some smarts in the coil pack that determines which clylinder fires when?

try getting a different coil, actually try spraying your current coil and wires with water, and watch for arcing, coils go bad all the time, mine went bad and started missing as soon as it got a drop of water on it

It's probably your coil. When plugs get too old, they have a tendency to ruin wires and coils. Also, double check your spark plug gaps if you haven't already done so. What plugs and wires did you use?

Get some NGK coppers (they're like $6 from kragen or wherever) and go back to OE wires, or Magnecors. Gap your plugs to .044. If that doesn't work, replace your coil. You don't happen to have a lightweight flywheel do you?
