Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Question Catalytic Converter Conundrum???

Hi, I have an '04 RS and I was wondering if any of you guys have tried to replace the three OE cats with one high flow cat. I thought this might be a good mod because three cats have to be at least a little restrictive. My questions are first what kind of power gains do you think I will see? Second and the main reason I'm writing is that darn OBD II system. It has two O2 sensors one just before and one just after the first cat, and I need to know if this mod will trigger a fault code. I'd rather not bypass the second O2 with a resistor or something if I can keep it in the loop. As always any and all info is appreciated. Thanks

The Random Tech catpipe has the proper O2 sensor bungs and shouldn't trigger any CEls. With headers and catback you should get noticeable gains.

Thanks for the info Ban, but at about $365 I was hoping for a less expensive alternative like getting a mid-pipe made locally with say a Catco cat and have the O2 bungs installed as well. Whadayathink?

That will work too. Also, PM Imprezer, he has one for sale cheap, so it would be worth asking about.

Thanks Ban, I will....

...and I can't get rid of them Darioc my OBD II would go nuts, which would surely effect warranty issues.
