Cam Tech
I have an 02 Rs and i was wanting to put in the Cobb Club Racer Cams, but cams are one of the only things ive never really done before. What all is involved, do i just need to drop em in and reset the timing or is it more difficult than that? any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yes, cams have to do with the timing of when the gas enters and leaves the combustion chamber, I do believe the RS 2.5 has a solid set of lifters, not hydraulic, which requires adjustment. The most critical of this is the valve adjustment, since the cams provide a different lift, the adjustment will be different.

You do nothing to the mechanical timing of the engine. You line up the timing belt EXACTLY as directed in the factory service manual. The overall timing of the engine is set by the ECU. You can change this with piggyback controlers, but it is not necessary.
The different cam grind (profile of the lobe) is different than the stock cam, this alters what the valves do and when. This does not affect the "timing" of the engine.
Since Cobb welds extra material onto the camshafts, then regrinds them to the factory base circle, the "adjustment" is mearly due to changing parts, not because of something with the cam that is different than stock.
Cam shops that grind original cams down from factory spec (Like TWE and Japaneese auto), the base circle is smaller than stock, and the rocker arms need to be adjusted to the difference between the base circle diameter difference between stock and the new smaller diameter.
