borla header concern
i posted this on nasioc thought id get an opinion from those that dont go "over there"
just got my borla headers installed...1 questions
1) anyone install borla headers and have an oil temperature gauge ? they go closer to the oil filter than stock and im a bit concerned....thoughts?
my headers are wrapped...all except near the oil filter ARGH! (i ran outta things to keep the header secure, and didnt realize it was going to be so close to the oil filter. )

By wrapping the Borla's you've voided the warranty. I don't think that Cobb would've offered them as part of a package knowing they would cause damage to the oil filter nor forum members that have "vouched" for them.
I have them also

I've never heard of any issues with oil or oil filter and Borlas, other that making it a bit more of a PITA to do an oil change
You should be fine and wrapping headers is good b/c you will keep your exhaust temps up, maximizing flow away from the engine, therefore maximizing power and torque. Enjoy the Gen. 4's and let us know if you have any problems in the future.

maybe because it causes the headers to rust and crack. Whats gonna happen when you do this? Go back to borla and ask for another set of headers.
also it would be hella harder to make SS. rust.

I was concerned about the wrapping issue when I bought my Borla's. What did I do? I called Borla. What did they say? They told me that wrapping was perfectly A O.K. however coating them with jet coat or the like would void the warranty. They actually encouraged the wrapping.

the borla site says "Any modifications to the product or its intended use voids the warranty." i would consider header wrap a modification but maybe borla doesnt. i remember reading that somebody asked somebody from borla while at the sema show(i think) if wrapping a header voided the warranty and they said no. even if it does void the warranty, couldnt you just take the wrap off if you send the header back, or does the wrap leave residue or something behind.
