Bolt-on EJ22 Performance Parts
This topic may have been beat to death around here, but I'm new, and digging through a million topics is really the last thing I want to do at 2AM
I was just wondering what companies sell performance parts for the EJ22? I'm getting a '99 Impreza L Wagon with the 2.2 and I want to get the HP/Torque up around the 200 range for more enjoyable daily driving, rather than lagging up mountains and such. I'm not looking to build a monster, and I want to try and reach 200 N/A if possible. Specifically I guess I'd be looking for Intake/Exhaust, cams, chips, and anything else that could free up some power. Again, I'm not looking to go FI unless it's cheap (which it never is, so that's pretty much futile )

www.rallitek.com has pretty good stuff, they've done all my work. If you dont see something on their website, just talk to them about it.

Cams, intake, and full headerback exhaust gets you to around 200 hp with an EJ25. Not sure how close the EJ22 would come to that, but the cams are the important part. If Cobb or TWE has cams for your motor, I'd start there, then add headers, high-flow cat, and exhaust. Skip the intakes unless you also plan to use an AFC.

Rallitek (and most of the other sites i've visited) only have an option for 'Impreza', and they don't specify which engine the parts fit on. Did the Impreza only come with a 2.2 before 2001? I don't want to buy parts for a 2.5 or 2.0 (or 1.8 lol)

2.5 and 2.2 and even 1.8 aftermarket parts are fairly interchangeable. The intake I have on my 2.2 would also fit on the others. Just look at imprezas before the WRX and those parts will fit you car.

Alright, I was hoping it was something like that. Basically a 2.5 is a bored-out 2.0/2.2? Or is it a change in the stroke?

they make at least two chips for our cars, too. the proECM.com power chip and torque chip II by the same company. im getting one soon, ive heard theyre really easy to install. i doubt there will be a noticeable power diff, but it takes out the speed limiter. http://www.subaruplanet.com/electronics.htm#torquechip

white legacy,
i've heard people promote each of the two chips. some say get the torque chip, others the power chip. the torque chip supposedly adds about 12 ft/lbs of torque and no horsepower. the power chip is meant to add 4 hp and around 7 ft/lbs of torque. im not sure which one i'm going to get. someone just told me that they think their torque chip also added horsepower, i dont know. first i have to find out where the ecu is located so i can do this myself.
