belts make noise except when clutch depressed
I don't why but my belts squeek like hell. I tried to tighten the tension pulley but that only fixed it temporarily. The funny thing is that the belt stops making noise once I push the clutch pedal in. Is this because its taking load off of the motor?
When my car is just idling at a stop they squeek, but as soon as I push the clutch(no revs, in nuetral) it stops. Dirty belts? Not tight enough?

The end play of the crank is taken up when you press on the clutch pedal. It may align the crank pulley just enough with the accessory pulleys to alleviate the noise from your worn belts. How much end play do you have is the question?

EUREKA!
throw out bearing making noises. I can manipulate the sound with the clutch pedal, so it can only be one thing :clutch not belts.
Too bad I now have to drop my transmission.
