2000 2.5 RS becoming a MONSTER
I've been thinking of putting the money into my RS to turn it in to an all-motor car for about a month...until one of my buds suggested just building my own motor rather than buying a short block and slapping on heads and cams...ect... Now, with the intention of building my motor, i think that i want a 450+hp RS rather than a 250 N/A motor. My only problem is that i don't have 7 grand in pocket to just go get everything at once. i want to use the 2.5 block and basically, unless i'm wrong build my motor just like the STI's... My big question is how to spec the motor out...what inernals to use, ect... any ideas would be great. Thanks:banana:

yeah...I'm not sure how far to go...aleast flywheel, clutch and pressure plate...i'd rather not have to buy a entire new tranny, but my budget is kinda rolling. I'm going to slowly piece this car along...build a motor while I'm still driving it. Then swap everything at once. I've heard that I can buy STI tranny for $1500, but I really don't know how realitic that is. The only thing that I am sure of is I will be building my own turbo motor, and also doing supension and tranny work...this is a project car.
And on a side note...just because I can't afford to put 7-8 grand in my car doesn't mean that I can't put gas in it. I mean come on, what kind of reply was that!

well your in the wrong forum but anhh...
same plans here what i have been thinking is a STI shortblock with the heads you have but ported and polished with a different cam and valvetrain, high flow fuel pump, modify my injectors for more flow(cut end off), FMIC, and full engine management of sometype
i know i'm being general and leaving things out but this is all i can think of right now for the engine
STI 6 speed(expensive but hasnt broken for anyone yet)

i would get different tranny because i know some people run into trouble with the RS tranny when it is given alot of power and the power you sound like you want will kill the RS tranny...
