Mario, the highest HP phase one was on the DOHC '98 RS. All other RS's are phase two. The '97 legacy was also phase 1, but rated 10 or so HP less. I know that the '98 RS is the only impreza with a phase 1 engine in it, but I an not sure if the 98 legacy had a phase 1 or two. I am guessing phase 1.

Thanks for the replies guys ;)
I hope you are right about 98 2.5 RS crank i will be looking for it, but not to insult anyones intelligence i'm serious. Is there any way that you can provide me some proof?? i can't take a chance having a crank that looks the same but it will not be lubrcated correctly. Thats what Quirt was telling me from Crawford.
Thank you again guys

Well I drive a '98 RS every day and I know it is phase 1. If you want verification go read some of te NA threads over on Nasioc. Where are you at with your engine? Is your WRX still down? Does the Phase 1 DOHC have a forged crank? If not why use it when the EJ22T already comes with one? Look on RS25.com there are DOHC shortblocks going for a few hundred now and then. If you still haven't found what you want by the morning I'll do a search for you.

Ok thats a little reassuring posted here and did searches on Nabisco and 25RS. The enigine is at Synders getting bored out to 3.825, from the factory it reads 3.815, mine read at 3.816 1/2 so i decided to bore it out a little. Max you can go is 3.835 and crawford has rings already made just for my size i'll have.
I don't want to use my 2.2 crank since its only 2.2 i can always get .2 more displacement if i use a 2.5 crank which is forged from the factory. Why not while i'm in there. My WRX is definately still down its kinda geting worse glad i have another car.
thanks again Nate

From a question that a friend of mine asked Quirt Crawford:
I was schooled on the fact that you can't use a phase II crank on a phase one block. I should have remembered that, but I overlooked it. 50 lashes for me.
My original crank from the 2.2t that I am putting together turned out to be slightly out-of-round on a couple rod journals. I tried to stuff my WRX crank into the block, which is why it is not rotating so freely. Crawford happen to have the 2.2t crank for super cheap compared to what is being charged for other cranks. Sooooo more waiting.
