You'll need to replace the timing belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, water pump, thermostat, and coolant. You also want to check the last time you've done the transmission and diff fluids, engine oil, and spark plugs.
Thanks

i recommend that you DO NOT pick up parts from oreilly or autozone etc. i replaced thermostat when my original got stuck open. replaced it with oreilly thermo and coolant. blew passenger headgasket 1k miles later. (yes i intalled it correctly) spoke with suby techs and appareantly with our aluminum crankcase, using the correct coolant and accessories is crucial. GL!

This has been a generally invaluable resource for me in researching and recently buying my 06 OBS.

Edit:
Totally mis-read your year (good find with that mileage BTW). I did find this that might help you, they appear to be down at the moment, but they have user manuals in PDF that should include a maintenance schedule for your car: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/...oad-links.html

As mentioned, if they haven't been done, I'd recommend just doing all the fluids including the brake fluid. Check radiator hoses when doing the coolant, replace fuel filter, and check the shocks. Those are the things encountered with my 97 when I picked it up. It currently has over 160K more miles than yours
