Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

is that 200 crank or to the wheel?

To the wheel - 123hp stock
Crank - 173hp stock

If it's to the wheel, i'd say good luck.
Crank, yes it's possible.

Safe for automatic? unfortunately i don't know.

I'd assume (and you know what they say about assumptions) that as long as you don't go past the engine power of the WRX for that year you'll be fine (since i imagine its the same 4 speed tranny)

Ill give the pulley another shot. Maybe hit it with some wd40 or something. cuz even though the engine wont start if i turn it over, it sure will cause some damage.

Plus, when you were working on the pulley did you notice the markings. Is that for timing or what. Cuz they looked like degree markings. Could you throw me a brief step by step on your pulley swap.

As far as power for the 4EAT. Even if they are the same tranny(wrx, 2.5i/rs), i think you can go higher than stock wrx power. Cus you can always add a pulley, intake, catback, etc to a wrx to get even that cars power higher.
I think as long as you dont do any neutral drops, youll be fine.

Have an service manual for it and it didn't say anyting about timing on those belts so i didn't bother with it
here's a down and drity step guide.
1) "broke" the main bolt that holds the pully in place (wd 40 and a long breaker bar deffently helps but it still takes alot of force)
2) removed the belt covers
3) on the left side of the alternator is a long threaded bolt that allows the alternator to tilt. First you have to losen a bolt right there that helps keep things tight, and then losen the long one until the alternator has rotated enough the belt comes off.
4) repeat this on the belt tensioner on the front of the engine (you should recognize what i'm talking about when you see it)
5) finish pulling the pully off, if it sticks after the bolt's been removed I got some good padding a bar and a ruber mallet to jolt the pully just enough so i could then pull it off.
Reverse the steps to put it back on. If i remember right the service manual i have said you should torque the main bolt back down to 138 lbs. hope that helps

i dont think it would be possible to get 200bhp with just crank pulley (+1-3hp) intake (+8-11) exhaust (+?) youd probably need to go big. probably major engine work. i think our best bets if we wanted to go big is to either drop an sti engine in (theres one selling on ebay right now for 4,500) or take the turbo/piping from a wrx or sti, of course labor on both choices would be pretty expensive =P but our cars arent meant to drag anyways just fix up suspension and go to the canyons =D

Ok so I need a breaker bar. $20, the right sized hex head, (24mm?), some wd, and then a torque wrench with a meter?

dang bro, when tightening it, cant i "wing it" or should it be pretty freakin precise? Also, you "broke the bolt" before you loosened the belts? I see what you were talking about on the tensioners. Its that bolt im worried about, and what gear did you keep your car in durring the loosening/tightening part?

So many questions cuz i only get one shot if i do it wrong ... But I appreciate your input.

as far as the power on our cars. i think you can get it to 200 crank. we start with 173, only 27 away from 200. get a good weapon r secret weapon intake. they claim 8-12, say 10. Exhaust say another 5, pulley why not another 5. so 20 now. thats 193. swap out the stock plugs with some bosch platinum4's or some iridium plugs, and maybe swap the stock wires to some high desity ones. maybe add an extra hp or two on that. I know once the the aftermarket throtle bodies come out we can have a new toy to add. plus the weapon R intake is also ram air ready. set that up right and you can get some pretty nice "forced" air induction. faster you go, the more air you "Catch".

either way it goes, ill e doing this pulley thing here, and the secret weapon intakes in the mail. so ill keep ya posted as to what gains i really get.

OH and i almost forgot. We do have the Perfect Power 6 and 7 available from rallitek.com. an NA tunning port for our rights, kind of like the Cobb AP for the wrx/sti boys.

we have some choices..

thanks for your replies. its 200 at the crank and i'm not looking for too much power but it would be nice to at least hit 200.

They are selling a cai for the 2005 rs and i read that all it needs is a T hose thing? What is that and where can you get one? Right now, I have enough money to either buy the weapon r short ram or the injen cold air. The weapon r claims that it has the power of a cai but in a short ram. The injen cai (if it can fit the 06) can give up to 10hp.

idk,.. what you folks think?

As for the pulley, i think i'm going to wait it out,.. overhauling the engine just to install means more $$$ spent.

Did you take out the snorkel resonator in your side fender? If you did, you can still purchase the Injen CAI, but install it as a short ram. You don't want to install the full piping cause it's reallly close to the ground, and if you did remove that snorkel, and it's pissing rain, your intake may ingest water or substances into your air box.

It's up to you though. Wait until subiedrift installs his intake and see what he says.
I'm still working on the handling and suspension of my car.

Still got
1) shocks 2) rims 3) tires 4) endlinks to buy.

22MM for the socket, if you dont' have a torque wrench and you are pretty good at that kinda thing, you can prob get away with winging it, I'd just double check it every 50 miles or so acouple times. I put it in second when broke it loose.

cobb was claming 20+ hp on a none modified engine with their cams, so like everyone else said 200 at the crank would be easy.

The T mod is easy, i got the parts at the local auto store, get acouple feet of house (its cheap and have some let over never hears) at T fitting and then acouple extra hose clamps to lock it all down you should be set (oh btw i used 5/8 hoses.

Ok so my buddy is takin his sti in to Gruppe S for tunning. we might be getting 275 to his wheels after next weekend. Anyways, Im going to set an appt at the same time to get that pulley thrown in. 60 bucks and itll be done. Weapon R SW intake is now in shipping, ill have an update on that when it goes in.

And since im not doing the pulley myself anymore, i decided to smoke out the rear lights. Using 20% limo tint. This is gonna be easy (ive tinted windows before) and look pretty sick.
Fog lights also.

ill throw pics of it all later one

Talking

AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWW YEAH!!!

So I got that Weapon R Secret Weapon Intake installed tonight. Sounds Bad ***, definite power boost, you really feel it kick right after 4,200 rpm. Honestly felt and soundedlike a freakin v-tec. no joke. Ide say the claimed 10bhp (crank) is true.

The install process however, 2 out of 10. Lets just say a little fabrication know-how isnt that bad. First there isnt really a way to connect the AIT sensor to the provided spot on the intake tube since the electrical wiring thats stock isnt long enough, No drilling needed I just fabed a hose fitting and attached it to the plastic hole on the AIT, and cut a 8inch length of hose to extend to the intake. Next, only the right vac hose needs to be replaced with theirs, the left one isplenty long to attach to the intake. Fitment is a bit weird, thats something im going to have to really fine tune a bit, since the bracket they provided isnt long enough to get to where I need it to go, and there arent reallymany other spots for it to attach without drilling into sheet metal.

Basically, before you install, print this out and walk out to your car and try and see what im talking about. Youll see itall.

HOWEVER, back toperformance. Right after the install I felt like some in and out burger. On the ride home, with a fry stickin out of my mouth I hear what sounded like a b series rev up next to me. look over its a green hatchback. And let me tell ya, his girl in the pass seat was a cutie, didnt affect the race since she couldnt weigh more than a buckOfive.

PWNED was his nick name, I think i started from like 2,500 rpm and just, well, drove, like the awd is supposed to, he did his honda wheel spin, but i kept a good 2 car lengths the whole time till i hit 3rd gear and pulled away.
