02 RS auto.. worthwhile upgrades
i own a 2002 2.5rs auto and was wondering if it would be worth the money to get a little more punch out of my car. Note that i do not have any experience installing anything on my car so i would probably take it too a shop. I was thinking maybe a CAI and new exhaust. I am in Edison, NJ and i heard people talking on this forum about a place called TurboTrix and how they are some of the best in the NJ area.
I am a total noob so if any of you guys could point me in the right direction as far as price and what i should get go. Thanks for any input at all.

whats up! welcome to the new age rs club i have a 03 and in jersey to. first thing is if you take your car to a shop to get an intake installed you shouldnt be modding the car! just ask around there are plenty of people that would help you and what not. mines a slushy to (i have intake, exhaust, pulley, and headers). the CAI is very fought over people say cobb others ganzflow others injen, so i recommend you meet up with rs's and check out their intakes to see whoes you like. I have experience with cobb and jc sports i personally like those two the most. Exhausts for us are tricky cause of the body style and hangers. most will buy an exhaust meant for the 99-01 rs's beacause they will work on our cars with a hanger moved(simple fix). if you ever want to meet up or help let me know

cool, thanks alot for the input man. I have had this car since the 02 basically came out and have been looking to add some go to it now that i have had it for a while. Its got a little over 15k miles, and the only other stuff i have done for it was new stereo system with pioneer head unit, 12" mtx sub in the trunk.

A sub doesn't (shouldn't) weigh more than 40 pounds, especially just one. I have 2 tens in an enclosed box and it can't weigh more than 35 pounds but to each their own. It still doesn't come close to what another passenger would weigh.
If you're talking "worth while" mods, I would do what you want to do with the car, then once you realize how much your tranny is slowing you down, you can take it to a shop for real and get a 5MT swap done. I guarantee you it is more than a worth while investment.
