What would be the pros and cons of a FMIC

I have the chance to get a FMIC. I just want to know what the pros and cons would be I heard I could lose low end power but my goal is to eventually go with a bigger turbo later so I'll need one eventually just looking for some info and opinions.

TIA

Not that it probably makes a differenc but I have a 04 STI I am eventually going with a bigger turbo and everything that goes along with it but I have the chance to get a good deal on a FMIC now so how bad would it affect performance on a stock car?

i have a fmic on a 2003 wrx and the set backs are well the turbo lag but that can be fixed with a up and down pipe and exhaust which i did recently and hell of a difference imo the car runs better i also plan to go with a bigger turbo!! And an other set back is if it is a daily driver you may pick up rocks that hit the cooler but that can be fixed with a pair of pliers and patience!! I love the fmic the sound the way it looks and the greatest thing the way people look at the car when they see the fmic!!!

Well because I have a STI I don't really need a Uppipe but yes I do need a DP and exhaust which I did have all of that but got rid of it for a few other things..The FMIC is only costing me some car stero stuff, a few amps. HU and sub...

I say you get a Blitz FMIC. It's a good all around size. You honestly dont need a huge APS DR750 type FMIC, unless you're going all out.

fmic = more power---cut lots of bumper/lose bumper beam ( except injen ) ------might loose fogs------can't smog with it easily

The FMIC is a Greddy and I don't have fogs and I don't mind cutting my bumper beam. Not worried about smog issues either.

Cool FMIC all the way

i run aps 725+ output fmic.

pros- makes your car look BAD, much better cooling efficiency, yes it will create lag and cause your stock turbo to spool at higher rpms but as everyone else has said with bigger turbo your sti will RIP.

cons- gets dented easily, better hope your insurance will cover it if you wreck your front end like someone did to me last week, increases flow and if you have exhaust your really screwed if you have stock turbo so get a evc/bc asap.

basically you know what an FMIC will do already. and basically all i'm saying is if the offer is still on the table i'd do it, but i wouldn't run injen and i wouldn't run greddy. with your sti i'd do an aps high output system (www.airpowersystems.com) or MRT.
hope this is of any help to ya.
peace...

Talking

APS would and is my first choice but money is the object here and the military don't pay that good...Well it pays OK...Yea I would really like a DR55 or a DR65 and the DR725 FMIC...And all that goes with it...maybe I'll win the lottery or somebody will leave me some money

How many times has this been confirmed?

Is this dependent on tuners, or is this the general consensis?

I've heard horror stories reflashing STi's as it is, what's the deal here??

Thanks,

David
