TItek DP install review
I just installed my new titek non catted DP on my 05 STI thank to Jefferey at 500whp!
Installation was very simple, I thought i might run into problems with leakage due to the fact that i do not have a cat back yet, and the stock exhaust being a donut style flange. Turns out the flange for the DP has a huge amount of surface area and the gasket provided in the kit does a great job covering the edge of the stock exhaust. Now i am definatly going to switch to a cat back with the correct flange to prevent any leaks from a gasket blow out. Now for the turbine side of the DP the flange is way thicker than stock and doenst leave alot of stud for the 2 nuts on the bottom but damage can be avoided but not over tightening the nuts. Becasue of the bellmouth design you cannont use the stock 14mm flange nut on the bottom right stud, there is simply not enough space between the stud and the bellmouth so a normal nut will have to do. Lastly the dp comes very close to the A/C evaporater drain tube. Instead of allowing the tube to drop down you have to push it over so it rest on the frame....even then i believe i wont have a tube after a couple of days....so it would best best to just cut it shorter to prevent rubber melting all over your new dp.
All in all i think fitment is "good" there were a few little things that are not avoidable that could of made this install better.
if anyone has a questions or wants pics shoot me a email or pm
thanks
alex

We are glad to hear that your overall response to the TiTek Downpipe was good. When we recieved the first batch of these, we test fitted them for fitment and had no problems at all. It is true that TiTek provides great quality gaskets with their exhaust systems that does the job. The larger downpipe flanges for both sides were chosen for more durability and better overall quality. As far as the A/C Evaporator Drain Tube that you are speaking of, you will almost always have to bend that piece out of the way. Nothing fits like stock OEM but aftermarket will obviously get you the performance benefits. For anyone else who has installed a TiTek Downpipe onto their car, please feel free to leave your comments here.
Regards,
Mark

good fit, execpt it made my cat back rattle a bit. this is now fixed with new kartboys. it didnt do this when i had the invidia ver3 on, with my invidia g200 cat back, but it makes sence, because these were designed to work together.
