Sti Down Pipe?
Ive Got A Question I Cant Afford To Spend A Thousand Bucks On A Turbo Back Exhaust At This Time. Also I Really Dont Want A Loud Exhaust Im 42 And Commute 80 Miles Per Day To Work So I Dont Want To Be Driven Crazy By A Loud Exhaust For Two Hours Per Day! However I Would Like Some Mor Horse Power! Would A After Market Downpipe Provide A Noticeable Performance Gain? About How Much Hp Could I Expect To Gain And Which Company Makes The Best Quality Dp And How Much? Thanks Silverfox1

most of the aftermarket downpipe will replace both cats, it will make noticable difference. i am guessing you will gain about 10-15 more hp with the downpipe. if you want a downpipe thats good quality and cheap you should check out the Helix downpipe.

Silverfox,
Well, that is the route I will go...are you looking at the "daddysxxx.com" site? Go with the ceramic coated pipe and get the midpipe that bolts up to the stock rear catback. Not that age has anything to do with this choice but at 41 years young...I dont wish for the loud stuff on my daily driver either. I plan to keep the STI catback until the day I need 400hp out of this car. I hope not to go that route because this is my daily driver. If I need the hp...then I just fire up my 500hp HKS Stage7++ Supra turbo.
Please post your results. I will get my setup in a month or two.

Well,
I think just the Stromung dp then the Maddad 3CE. That will take you back to the stock cat-back. You will add some exhaust note to stock but nothing too crazy. Oh and price should be under 500 for both even with the ceramic coated dp. Dave

Silverfox, if you were to get your new up-pipe, would you be selling your sti up-pipe? I have a wrx and want to get rid of the cat. I cant go aftermarket because the cops in my area are really good and spotting that.

Car Info: 2004 Subaru STI/WRX Silver of course
Can I suggest that if oyu buy a DP try to stay away from those with a bellmouth opening those seem to cause boost creep but like everything some people experience and some do not. Try to get one with a divorced wastegate. My frined has a PDE and has tried two aftermarket exjaust and the stock and has had no problems. But that is my $.02...There is this one...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
Dosen't look to bad good thing it is cheap and I looked through almost all their feedback and didn't find any negative on the DP.
