SPT intake installed on 2006 WRX wagon

Hi guys. Been reading every thread out there on the SPT intake and just wanted to give you my impressions.

My main reasoning behind doing all of this was to get the BOV sound. Yeah, I know, performance wasn't behind my motivation. I wanted the cool BOV sound. Period.

So first, I had help taking off the silencer. Cool, got the BOV sound but it was very quiet. Forget about having any music on or even the windows down. Just couldn't hear it.

Soggy installed the intake and heatshield before lunch and we headed to Quiznos. Wow, what a freaking huge difference. It's gotta be at least 10x louder now. It's awesome. I don't know what people are saying when they say you can't hear the stock BOV with the intake in. It's way loud.

Now for an exhaust. . .

After a little more driving around in Friday traffic, I can't believe how much this intake sucks. It seems to suck so much air, lol. Just accelerating normally, I can hear it sucking like crazy. It's really amazing what a difference the stock vs SPT.

I thought that was just the air passing through the waste gate (and being fed back into the intake...)

Correct me if I am wrong...

^^ it has nothing to do with the wastegate. you can hear the turbo spool with an intake. you can also hear the bpv because it dumps back into the intake.

haha i did that to my sti. after a few days i noticed my fuel economy was like very low hahaha...i put my stock back on got good MPG hahahaha but yeah like you said I did love the bov and spool of a turbo

^^^It might just be the way you drive because you like the bov sound. I didnt notice any difference.

Have any tuners reported any real power gains with this intake? I know a VERY modded car will take advantage of more air, but what about a stage 2 or less?

replace wategate with bypass valve and you are 100% correct. No sucking sound but recirculated intake charge for sure.
