From my understanding on reading the threads and such porting the wastegate should not lower the overall boost the turbo is capable of producing but in fact making it easier for the turbo to handle lower boost pressures of around 1bar.

Problem being waste gate opens but can't handle the amount of exaust flow thus still activiating the turbo. Solution, port the waste gate hole so more flow can be allowed through the port The waste gate still has to open but now just not as long.

Possible issues with over porting. Extreme fluxuation in boost levels becuase ecu will try to open waste gate for too long of an interval. Now i suppose bypassing the ecu with some sort of boost controller may solve that.. its just more money and as you know mbc's aren't really reccommended on any wrx so i'll guess the same of the sti.
