IMO, Priority number one would be to source engine management to maximize performance from your mods.

The big gain mods would be a turbo back exhaust and engine management. This will yield anywhere from 40-50whp.

Research the forums for engine management solutions. The most popular ones are Cobb AccessPORT, Turbo XS UTEC and ECUtek reflash.

If you want something that is easy and plug and play that requires little tuning knowledge, go with the AccessPORT. The UTEC is a piggyback computer that is plug and play and will require a dyno tune if you have no tuning knowledge. The ECUtek will require you to visit a ECUtek equipped tuning facility for the dyno tune and reflash. This is the basic cliff notes description to get you started.

My suggestion, get the Cobb AccessPORT and a full turbo back exhaust. If you are limited in funds and can only get one, get the AccessPORT first and run Stage 1 until you get your exhaust.

Eh, I'd say wheel/tire combo should be first, or at least tires, just save the RE92's for winter, if you live somewhere with snow.

i dont believe the 05 sti's have tire problems like the 04s .. and re92s are for wrxs not stis ... so tire and wheel is out .. i would sugguest up pip and turbo back .. and as far as engine management system go .. it's better to get your hardware den do the ems so you get all the power from all your upgrades ... lighten crank pulley .ic hose, kartboy shortshifter and bushing, are some things yo ucan look into
after getting these things an ems is in order .. utec is very useful if you wanna play around .. that's the one i recommand .. and also if your looking for big power boosts .. a forced induction fpgreen turbo should be good .. it's a proven turbo setup on the stis. from one mustang (previous)owner to another. congrats on the choice to a more sophisticated engine design. i too am in the learning process of modifications. the stickies offer plenty. while my standing advice is this. learn how to drive your car the best you can in STOCK form. if you mod anything 1st. my opinion is the handling. i've owned my 2 subies for 2 years now and i STILL am learning how they handle. and my power mods are minimal.

Your right about the tires. Although if you run in snow in the winter you may want to get snow tires. I have heard of problems with the stock STi tires in the snow. On the EM however i think that to tame boostcreep issues you will need EM or a turbo wastegate porting. I don't have an STi but that is what i've seen here from time to time. I am not sure if that was a problem on the 05's or just the 04's. Again doing searches saves time. I may be wrong about the boost creep thing but STi'ers will know for sure. Good luck

EM doesn't solve boost creep. If you get it, only porting the wastegate will get rid of it (or replacing the turbo entirely). Good tuning will net significant gains in both peak power, powerband, and drivability. Good EM is the single best bang for the buck mod for a subaru.

STi tires are summer tires, if there's an outside chance it'll see snow you'll need a winter tire, or all seasons at the least.
