Smile just got my 07 STI!!!!

just upgraded from an 03 bugeye with alota problems....i just wanted to ask STI owners a question or two. when im getting on the throttle and go to shift from say second to third sometimes i hear and feel a loud thud noise...possible rear diff movement. just wondering if this is normal. also I kinda played around with dccd and did some flat foot shifting with the dccd set to auto and i noticed that when shifting i can hear very clearly three quick thuds with every shift seems to be coming from the rear diff also and when i switch the center diff to wide open i just get one thud which im thinking is just the drivetrain moving a bit due to a high torque load. can any one tell me if this is normal or if i have a bit of a problem....good thing i got a 100k warrenty. other than that its sooo awesome

Leak down and compression test, pray for good numbers if not get rid of it or ask warranty to get you a new block. I can't say i get a thud noise from shifting but it might be the clutch, when i dump mine in from time to time it thuds a little but not when shifting. When my dccd is open I get no noise only limitless driving pleasure, although driving at low speeds while having dccd in lock or up front you will get clunks and bumps keep that in mind.

Id say flat foot shifting is driving like a bat outta hell. The noise you are hearing is the rear diff hitting the rear cross member (I think thats what its called). They make kits to elliminate it. But the way I look at it, its your driveline telling you, too much driveline shock, easy killer!

i would say the thud happens under heavy acceleration in this order push clutch in shift release clutch smash gas pedal..THUD pretty sure its the diff ^^^^^^^^^^^^^....im just wondering what that would have to do with the block....just curious
