Yes, Im just making sure. Because the US Sti cams do not have a place to grip with a wrench and require special tools.

Good luck getting that last one off.

They're out.

We had to take the block with one head on it to the local military auto crafts shop and have a bolt welded into the stripped out allen hole.

I'm not too upset that it was such a pain to get out, I'm just pissed that it set us back so much.

The 2.5L with WRX heads and FP Green turbo is together. For whatever reason, the stock oil feed line doesn't seem to be formed to fit onto the turbo, so we had to stop (for the night) in order to go have another line made tomorrow. Hopefully we can take the opportunity to find a new cam sprocket (my 'R IN' is now missing a few teeth. ) We also need to see if we can find the time to have a BOV flange welded onto on of my IC pipes.

This is no big deal, but it's taking time away from my planned window of 'engine break-in period'.

Pics and other discussion found here.

Quick update.

Have almost 600 miles on it. Leaking oil (on top of the block, underneath the engine and in the IC pipes), presumably from the oil pressure sensor on top of the block or from PCV on pass. side of the block.

Also, I'm seeing the ignition advance multiplier (a function in the stock ECU that figures out which map you should be on, based on detonation) always seeming to move to 4 or even 0.

I took it to my local dealer's serv. dept. and had them do a compression check. We were seeing from 150-165 psi. Pics here:
cylinder #1
cylinder #2
cylinder #3
cylinder #4

While checking the compression, we noticed that the gap on the #3 plug was about .008 (all the rest were .028). Plugs had a burnt appearance near the top of the threads.
Pic here:plug ends

Lastly, I plugged the STI specific breather and zip-tied the PCV.

I need to wipe down the underside and the top of the block and see if I made any progress.

Pat, It shouldn't be very hard to take the intake manifold of to check it out.

I'd think half a day max, but then agian we are HIIC.
