Cobb Tunining Plano - Built 2.5L hybrid - 15,000 miles - Valve lash not set properly, pistons had too much clearance, nothing torqued properly. Warranty repair refused.

Andrewtech - Built 2.5L STI long block - 400 miles - Rod knock at start up until oil pressure builds. Unknown cause.

There is another motor somewhere in there that I'm forgetting.

FIS was the only Subaru shop in Dallas after Cobb left in 2002. He went out of business. I wonder why.

Dealership bent me over for $6k because I figured "dealership repair" would make it easier to sell the car, and refused to warranty their work even though it was misfiring before I was handed the keys.

Cobb is no longer a reputable shop after their disastrous build that they refused to warranty when it started to go bad during the stated coverage.

Andrewtech's built was....complicated....so I don't blame them for the failure (more likely than not it one of the tuning issues I had with 2 different tuners) but they are covering it anyways. Good guys.

That's very depressing to hear. Especially Cobb not backing up a customer and refusing warranty. I expect that from the stealership, but not Cobb. Glad Andrewtech is taking care of it though.

He was flown in to tune a bunch of local cars over a weekend. In that event and the next time he was flown in shortly after a combined total of 5 motors blew. Mine didn't even last a full tank of gas afterwards. Clark has a bad name in tuning circles (tune as many cars as possible and scoot before problem start), I just happened to find out after the fact.

Ya I have heard/read a few things, and have some experience. What happened to the motor. Did it run really hot?
