Help! "Ticking" noise
i had my car (04 STi) up on a lift last night to install a cat-back.....the install went great and appeared flawless. BUT....now i seem to have a ticking noise when slowing down, almost as if i were running over ice cubes....in the four corners of my car....its not coming from underneath, like where the new exhaust is....so i remain confident in my mechanical skills....but is it possable that raising the car up on the lift did something to my differential, or the AWD? does this happen? sorry if my description of the problem is unclear....

you have a new catback on, you'll be hearing new noises, i woudln't worry about it
puttin it on a lift won't hurt your suspension unless you do it horribly wrong somehow, in some way i can't think of

*shrug* prolly not, its jsut a noise that is more noticable now that you have a catback
everytime you do something to your car you will notice something different
hell, when i got out drivin real hard, i always freak otu and think its not drivin the same, something has to be wrong, 2 days later im like, bah all in my head

Look underneath your car while you try to move the muffler tip from one side to the other. If it has a lot of movement, see if it makes contact with anything under the car. The most common point of contact is a structural crossmember for the suspension. Often stiffer urethane exhaust hangers like Kartboy's will limit movement enough to eliminate or at least reduce the contact.

it could be your heat sheild or it could be your exhaust piping slightly banging against your rear diff get some kartboy hangers and it should minmize or get rid of this problem.

i agree- - - i know so many sti(newbie) owners that freak when they hear noises- you put somethin new on your car- it will affect it(audibly) have confidence in your install(or just retrack your efforts) then panic if you remeber doing or NOT doing something right. sti's or noisy to begin with so hopefully you get used to hearing odd noises. just tryin to help dude
