yes mine is 06 rex. I just currently switch to non cali 91 map stage 1 from 91 cali map stage 1. i havnt check my boost yet..the last time i check with cali map was 13.7psi (is that low?). my gas milage seems the same...i didnt really care on the gas milage..

i know im not suppose to run non cali map...hows does knock sounds like? wat other dissavantages will i get from running non cali map?

Do you have an 06 also? wat are ur experience using stage 1, sounds, power gain? how about boost??

no, I drive an 03 blown mustang gt and commute with a 96 jetta

I've been looking into WRXs since late 03... learning a lot about them, checking out the ones my friends have, etc... And I just havent pulled the trigger on actually BUYING one just yet... there are a few other options im looking into... but this car has definitely caught my attention in the highest possible way... and for 06... Its kinda the one Ive been waiting for (though I REALLY wish it was a close ratio 6 spd with a nice long cruise gear (for good mpg)... preferable one as strong as the STI one )

my intention is to get rid of BOTH my cars and settle on a happy medium... The Mustang is just ***** out performance/horrible mileage even when not pushed... The jetta doesnt come standard with performance but i average 32 mpg... I want a car thats CAPABLE mid 13s and CAPABLE of giving me at least 24-25 mpg... a stage 2 WRX is a nice candidate

anyway... about running non cali maps.. I personally wouldnt do it, given the fact that there are certain "ingredients" if you will, that other states allow in their gasoline that CA and maybe AZ do not... that yields crappier fuel for us... Our 91 is barely comparable to an 89 of another... Some pinging is audible, others are less severe... when it happens, your ecu should retard your timing to compensate, therefore not running at its optimum... In all honesty... you are just tuned SAFER by running the CA specific maps... there is obviously a reason WHY christian went through the trouble of making CA specific maps... think about it... It's their fault if a bunch of californians blow their engines... (albiet, its NOT THAT SEVERE of an issue, but given its possibility, they tuned it safer for us...)

I wouldnt even think twice about switching back to the CA map... you could be slowly burning your engine into the ground... just not worth the extra MAYBE 4 hp difference...

After all... 4 hp is not worth the possible shortening of your cars life...

Enjoy your car for many miles, keep it safe and let me know.. how does the butt dyno feel about stage I?

yes, ive already switch back to cali maps, thank you. so you thinkin about a wrx eh? this my first subaru, i love the car man lol you just get addicted to power and all that. 06 wrx 6 speed would be great..but damm is only 5 speed, good enough. man blown engines..? wow. im really looking forward to going stage 2, i dont know why i hesitage, i guess warranty purpose ive got about 4k miles right now. i know stage 2 is the sure way to get a huge power then get it protune, i just gotta make sure i get the right time and money.

so you think helix is the way to go for the downpipe? i would mind becuase ive been think about that right b4 the invidia. i just really want no boost creep/boost spike, i heard that the devorce waist gate can help. about 100$ difference more on invidia. I WOULD really want to save that 100 bucks
