Exhaust backfire?

I have a 04 sti and I get this weird "Putt/poooof" sound during shifting sometimes. It kind of sounds like a light backfire. I've never noticed this before... does this happen to anyone else?

it seems as if this is caused by the BOV running to atmosphere, and unburned fuel is igniting.

If you have a catted DP, I'd recommend running your BOV to recirculate (if possible), since a rich A/F mixture will eventually clog-up the cats.

BTW, is this car tuned?

I have a 50/50 GFB Hybrid & a stock cat back with custom stromong down pipe. No cats in my car. I don't think my car backfires, but my friends have seen me shoot small flames. Oh well, it can't be that bad, lol.

hey my last name is izuka, onizuka.... lol.

anyways, i noticed that the rfl will cause backfire since it opens up at almost any boost level... my hks didnt backfire as much as the rfl i have on now.... i say put about 4 washers in the rfl and see how it is for you.
