Electric Cut-out Question

I have been looking into exhuasts, but I would like to keep the stock outside look, so I have been thinking about going with a down pipe and a Qtec electric cut-out! I know the quality of the product is awsome, a friend of mine with a turbo Gsr has one and this thing is awsome... But i was wondering if it would pose any problems on the STI other than the ussual boost creep hat occurs with most exhausts. Thanks

If you go with a downpipe and a reflash, tuners will generally increase your boost limit. Without porting your wastgate, the turbo will spool faster than with a catted exhaust and could cause creep. Mine did ok up to 18 psi in WOT in 4th, 5th and 6th gears, where creep would occur and a cut off would happen. Get a reflash with a new downpipe and exhaust and use a max boost setting of 17 to 17.5 psi, port your turbo waste gate and you should be fine.

So I should get the downpipe, and have it tuned... ecuteck, acessport...ect, then put on th cut out and i should be fine? I just wanted to make sure that it didnt spool so fast that it would creep significantly more than a normal 3" cat back.

You have an STI right?

If so, by removing the the downpipe and mid pipe, you will have a catless car. I personally like ecutek and U-Tek. If you have dreams and ambitions of tracking your car on race gas, I would recomend going straight to the U-Tek and treating like an Ecutek (only pro tuners modifiy your maps). With a U-Tek you can switch from pump gas maps to race gas maps no problem. You can't do it so well with a ecutek.

if you're looking for a getting it tuned nicely, your tuner will have to tune around it.

take a look at ATP's vacuum-based cutout (boost based), it might be a better choice.
