ecutek,idle seems high

hey guys i have a 20g with supporting mods and my idle is liek at 900 rpms all the time, is that bad? it used to idle at 750 with my utecbut it could be casue it was utec, but i traded it for ecutek, any help would be appreciated, oh ya can i unhook the elctrical for my boost solenoid since i have ecutek or does the tuner have to disable the CEL you get from disconnecting it?

IMO, 900 is in the OK range. I assume by supporting mods, you are running with larger injectors, fuel pump, fuel rails, maybe even fuel pressure regulator? These mods, while necessary, don't help with idle. It is difficult for our stock ECUs to hold a steady voltage because the flow range is so much larger than our stock injectors that the computer was designed to hold. Its not a big deal at high rpms but at idle it struggles.

That said, it's not surprising that your tuner set your idle a little higher than before. If it fluctuates, you have less chance at stalling.

My car, with similar mods had trouble at idle. (Perrin 816 cc injectors, fuel rails, walbro 255l/hr fuel pump) We added a fuel pressure regulator from APS and it limited the fluctuations to +/- 150 rpms. It is set at 43 psi and rises to 63psi with boost 1:1. My idle rpm set point is 650 rpm. I would say that 500 with no fluctuation is ideal but 500 to 1000 is OK.

Be careful with premaping... I assume you mean that you sent your ecu out to be flashed. You never know how aggressive their new map is running on timing, mixture, boost... etc. I would get it into a shop to have it custom tuned. They will probably be able to get your idle under control a bit better.
