Difference between WRX and STi turboback

I was just wondering if the turbobacks are compatable between the wrx and sti. I only ask because i'm thinkin about trading in my wrx for an sti, and want to keep my turboxs turboback.

I thought the STi had bigger piping and a freeer flowing muffler? Am I wrong?

I think it is, but as far as compatability goes, they're the same. Thanks joel.

While many WRX TBE's will fit, the thing you have to be concerned about is the downpipe-tranny clearance. The 6MT is wider than the 5MT and downpipes that have a cat directly after the turbo won't fit. For instance, the Vishnu SIgnature Series 3" TBE will not fit because of the hiflow DP cat (I know, I had to sell mine). However, their non-signature model will fit because the cat is in the horizontal section of the downpipe.

Also, be sure and do some research. Many folks are reporting boost spike/creep issues with TBE's on the STi. Do a search here or on imprezawrxsti.com regarding the boost creep.

You have to get the waste gate ported on the VF-39 to get rid of the boost creep if you want to run a turbo back. There is a sticky at the top of this forum that explains it all.
