I would be happy to be getting over 200 miles per tank. I never wait until the low fuel light comes on, but Im very close and I am usually filling up at like 180-190 miles. Are you guys pushing it really far to be getting so many mile out of a tank? I drive no highway at all for the most part though. I use 93 Chevron ultimate every time.

I have also noticed that whatever it is that is unique to the special California Reformulated gas to make it cleaner just destroys Mileage. I tested this on about 6 cars shipped out from the east coast. All of them got about 50% more out of a tank than on the crappy Ca. gas. I find it hard to believe that using that much more gasoline makes the air cleaner, but I am sure studies were done.

Agreed, but what does that to do with my last post? Unless you were referring to my first. It also does not account for the around town mileage.

gas mileage!
i routinely get 300 miles per tank in combined city and highway use in the auto mode.one thing i noticed is that when running it bone dry it rarely will take more than 13 and change in gallons at the pump although the book says it holds 15.9 us gallons. my mpg usually works out to 21 or 22 mpg.one time i ac tually ran it out of gas and it still only took a little over 14 gallons to fill.

I've also noticed I was getting better mileage outta the 35/65 than in auto. Although with 18/21 mpg on the STi I wouldn't be complaining, I only get about 160 miles per 3/4 tank. Part of it is my driving style and another factor is its driven on local most of the time.
Also has ne one noticed that theres no such thing as coasting with this car?? On the highway with ne other car I can coast at 60-70 mph and not have to be constantly on the throttle to keep that speed. But with the STi once you let off the throttle the car slows down immediately and to keep your speed you have to be on the throttle. I'm mostly use to fwd and rwd so it might just be a characteristic of a awd car, but I think that also contributes to its bad fuel efficiency.

GAS MILEAGE
I was lucky to get 22-24 mpg with 90% highway driving in my outback sport manual. It was split 50/50 all the time which is the reason the manual and the automatic which was split 90/10 got the same gas mileage.
I just got my STI and would be estatic with the same mileage. It would make sense the 35/65 would work better but how much is anyones guess.
Let us know when you try it.
Later,
John
