DCCD/ Gas mileage
I have been getting crappy gas mileage lately, between 18-21 mpg a tank with mostly highway driving. Staying out of boost as much as possible. Was wondering if putting the DCCD in 35/65 instead of auto would help?

i think its all the same, it just depends on how your driving, and it may just be ur mind thinking that you get better gas mileage. but 18-21 is pretty good, i dont like 240 max per full tank. which is like 14mpg? i dont drive that hard... i drive mild most fo the time

If you hop on hte freeway and drove at 65-70 until you ran out of gas, you wouldn't get much more than 25-27 mpg anyway. The STi is not an economy car. 18-21 is on the high end of most 300 hp cars, so don't complain too loudly. Just a little grumbling is called for.

I agree this isn't an economy car, but with my Z28 I would get about 32mpg highway. Around town was about 16 since I never get off the gas.
With the STi I get about 15 around town and I drive it a lot more conservatively. I haven't paid attention on long highway trips.
I did think the 2.5L engine when not boosting would get better mileage than it does. Not that I care I run a race gas mix in this car anyway. I was just surprised was all.

Before I put a new fuel system in the Grand National it was pulling much better gas mileage than the STi is. The GN is heavier, 2 more cylinders, automatic, and it dosnt know what aerodynamics is. Gonna try the 35/65 split on the highway tommorro and see what happens.

Using 35/65 I have noticed much more mileage to a tank. I just got 285 miles out of one. That included some full throttle runs too. It took 13.8 gallons to fill it back up. 300 miles per tank should be relitivily easy with the 35/65 set up. Oh, its still cold as fu*k here. So warmer temps should see better mileage.

What Octane are you running? I live in washington where I use 92 and I concistantly get 300-330 to a tank w/ DCCD in auto. The most I've gotten out of the STI was 351 miles to a tank. That was on a drive from Spokane to Seattle in December. When I drove to California and put craptane in while I was down there for X-mas i did notice a significant decrease in MPG.

I'm kinda tired of people calling it a race car/rally car/drag superstar
I don't drive it like a race car, stay out of boost most of the time should yield lower gas mileage than a 4.3 liter v8 (friends' C43 amg) but it doesnt, even with almost half the displacement, so there's bound to be some curiosity, trying to squash the discussion with a comment like that doesn't help anyone.
