Cold Winter Problems

My car has 1400 miles on it and for the past few days it has been under 15 deg. F. Yesterday my heater fan started to make a funky *** noise, so I shut it off for the short drive home. Today I run out start the car and let it warm up for about 5 min. Get in the car and again noise from the right hand side of the car when the heat is on. It goes away about 30 min later, well after the car was warmed up. I had also been playing with it (on, off, on-low, off, and so on). The tonight I go to my womans house (about 20 min) and get back in my car and the car wont move. So I give her more juice and it goes, the entire car reeks of clutch. This is under a 2000 rev w/o intentional clutch slipping. Go to grab some grub (about 45 min) and the same thing happens with the clutch. WTF??

Well I found out the problem. The brakes are freezing. The car had to be at 4,000 RPM to move forward this morning. Then there was a crack/crunch from all 4 corners and the car moved forward. Car reeks of brake, and a hint of clutch. Gonna call the dealer to see if they have a solution. Any ideas would help. The fan didnt make any noise today.

Got an idea, and am trying it out. I didnt set the parking brake and left the car in gear. There is a bunch of snow around the car so I am not worried about roll. Let you know in a few hours.

Owner's Manual states that parking brake shouldn't be used in freezing conditions. Put it in first gear. Bring along a wheel chock if you frequently park on grades.

I leave mine in neutral when i can and feel safe but 1st otherwise. But my car was driving in neutral the other day when it -13. I start the car let the clutch out and the start to drive away. It kept doing it for a couple of minutes.

Problem hasnt occured anymore. Leave it in gear, could leave it in N with all the snow around my car. Brakes are loud as faulk first few times they are applied. Talked with Subie technician and he said the metal compound in the brake pads is different than WRX and that they are just freezing together.
