im rather curious about the same thing... how do you guys tune for the CA-91 ****-tane? or do you approximate and just pull timing a certain amount?

We make several efforts to get the CA91 maps optimally tuned for the lesser quality CA91 fuel. We actually transport CA91 octane fuel here for testing and I fly around the nation tuning on various fuels training the AccessECU dealer network. This has been a great experience that has allowed us to witness & datalog how the various vehicles react to the varying & different fuel qualities across the nation. We have several CA ProTUNERs I keep in contact with, we send them some of the maps we have developed then ask them how the vehicles are responding.

Generally speaking, for the CA91 octane maps, I will remove some ignition advance from the upper torque plateau, the boost targets are slightly lower as well as the WGDC table settings, the DAM default is set to stock levels, and the fuel curve is slightly richer from just before peak torque on to redline.

Take care,
Christian.

I don't know what turbo the sti has, but what about testing it out on the wrx and do some mapping stuff for it, since it seems to be the same engine, or im I wrong?
now that the wrx has the same size engine maybe you can just swap turbo and make the wrx "sti fast" with some ecu tuning.

I may be mistaken, but i believe some of the internals are built of better materials in the STi block...

However, the WRX block is probably identical to the Forester XT...

Now if the powertrain in the 2006 WRX and the Forester XT are identical, when then, do we see such a miniscule change in the Stage I testing for the WRX compared to stock? I understand both vehicles are tuned differently when stock, but the Forester XT @ a stage I puts down 214 hp and 231 tq, right? Now if the powerplants are identical, why wouldnt the same be achieved for the WRX?

And yes, I've looked at the Stage II WRX and realize it tops the Stage II Forester, but barely by any in the hp department, but yeah it gets a significant improvement for torque..

Please explain, because I might not be understanding something here...

i just thought the 06 wrx had the exact same engine block and internals as the sti. i thought the main difference were the turbo, ecu management and the tranny, but i wasn;t sure about it, maybe internals are better, you are the expert here, i just wasn't sure.
thanks for explaining and asking.
just one question that may sound dumb, but the dyno numbers ARE Wheel hp right?
a is this AWhp?
thanks

Those are AWD dyno numbers at the wheels. Take care when comparing them to results from other tuners, especially on different AWD dynos.

hey Christian im thinking about buying the cobb turbo back exhaust for my 06 wrx, without the accessport for now. would i get the check engine light on my car with only the exhaust?
would i get any problems at all? i heard about people having fuel cuts with this.

So if the stock '06 WRX turbo is already out of steam, more or less, we would have to look at upgrading to a different turbo to extract more power than the standard bolt-ons (Intake, up-pipe, downpipe or TBE)?

'06 COBB APs?

according to the cobb website, '06 WRX AP's are being sold starting Nov. 15...anybody know if any definite stage 1&2 numbers are available? there were several dyno graphs posted earlier in this thread, but nothing definite.

comparing the cobb tuning stage 2 on the previous wrx model and the stage 2 in the 06 wrx, the only difference is torque not hp (05 wrx= 224hp 06 wrx = 224hp). right? where in the 06 max torque (271 ft-lbs)comes in at 3,000 rpm while on the 05 wrx max torque (223 ft-lbs) comes in at 5,100 rpm. if you have the same hp but the torque is way higher and comes in at lower rpms, how would this feel. I mean if you did a drag race with this 2 cars how would it be? just curious.

the 06 would win, assuming driver are equal. THe 06 would be faster.
