Help Out
Ok, after searching the boards for a few days i tried to pull as much information as i could but i think it would just be eaisier to ask generaly so here it goes.
My major spring mods were going to be COBB AP and then short after up/dp, for my 05 STi
I have a few questions.
What power gains will i truly see?
What would be the best direction i should go in as far as most power and still being able to pass inspection without replacing to stock. (what catted pipes/ap capabilitys)?
Is COBB's Inconel625 uuppipe worth the extra 100?
Would eventualy getting the cat back be benificial?
Anything else i should know about this path?
Thanks a lot!!!

The sti's uppipe is already catless, so you don't need it to run stg. 2. You can run stg2 with only the downpipe, many people have done this, but it isn't reccommended. You will see high EGT's with only a downpipe for stage 2, it's probably better to get a full tbe.

You will pass
emissions if you maintain a catted downpipe (one with a cat in it)...catted downpipes add about $150-$200 to the price of downpipe...but is necessary in areas such as yours...
I personally like the Cobb and PDE downpipes because they use the stock donut gasket...which prevent a lot of of exhaust leak problems...they do taper down to 2.5" though...
Lot's of exhausts to choose from...sound/performance...tailor it to your needs...

I have a catless helix DP and a cobb access port with a custom dyno tune. Definately worth every penny. I have a Greddy SP2 CBE. Very nice setup and it is all about the tune!!!! Uppipe is not neccessary to replace on an 05 STi it is already catless. With anything catless in your system i believe you will not pass emissions but i could be wrong. But who cares its five years away!!!! Just put stock back in for a day and back to catless!
