borla hush owners

been looking at the borla hush catbacks, but i'm wondering how many of you have ever gotten some heat fr0om the cops for it? i had a megan racing catback on my wrx and the cops loved me. ... how much attention does a borla hush attract from the police?

The Borla hush catback is somewhat slightly louder
than the stock catback and shouldn't attract much
attention from the pigs.
I have the same catback and they really don't care
much about sound level like they do in CA.

Its one of the least likely catbacks to get pulled over because of. Its nice and QUIET, and since its not a huge melon shooting canister it looks relatively stock, which is exactly why I have one on my Subie.

I was pulled over a while back for no front plate by a motorcycle cop. I'm running catless with a Borla Hush (with the muffler case painted hi-temp black.)

The cop didn't say a word to me about the exhaust or anything else-- just gave me a fix-it ticket for no front plate and let me go.

I merge onto the freeway every morning right by the local CHP office, a couple times a week I have one behind me. Never been hassled or even given an odd look.

I like the sound and it's pretty darn quiet when you're cruising or accelerating lightly. It's not "hush" though under heavier throttle however, so don't go right foot crazy near an officer!

I do recommend painting the muffler case black though. The less "bling" they see hanging under your rear bumper, the better.

i have a borla hush also painted black. I have been around many cops and none of them have given me anything for it. It still gives that great rumbling sound while not attracting a lot of attention. I got the twin tip so it looks all stock

I too have a borla hush and have purposely pulled in front of a cop just to see if I'd pass the popo test...and I did, so +1 for the hush.

I have no issues with mine, both with the stock downpipe/cats & ball & socket adapter and now with an Invidia V2 and a flat flange. Never rubs or clunks on anything and was a piece of cake to install and line up.

I did have to shim the outer DS muffler hanger though to get the tips level... that's just the way it fit. A minor issue really.

The only other thing I didn't like is their "pushnut" retainers for the exhaust hangers which allowed the exhaust to shift around a bit (it never shifted on its own and rubbed anything but I didn't like all the extra movement when I'd shove it by hand.) I ordered split shaft-clamps from McMaster-Carr and put them on, which captured both sides of each hanger-- problem solved.

They are known for never fitting 100% right. Sure, some of them will. They might have a good batch here and there, but more often than not, they have SOME sort of issue. Still a great exhaust, though I jinxed myself - today a cop called me out on my exhaust. Played it cool, and didnt get written a fix it, so I got lucky.
