Blouch WRX/STI Dominator 4.0XT-R
Alright,
I'm working on building the ole' STi (05) up. I'm currently in Iraq and haven't had the chance to post in a while but here goes. I'm really liking the characteristics of the Blouch 4.0 XTR and it seems to be a great bang for the buck. My issue is I'm not sure what other supporting must are a must with this thing as far as a motor build goes. Is this stock block compatible or should I go ahead and build it up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Isn't this basically a stock location 35r?
You're pretty much rollin' the dice on stock pistons whether or not they have a casting defect. You might get lucky, might not. Heads are getting pretty restrictive at 35r level too, but that can get $$$

Yeah, same here. That's what I'm wondering. I'm looking for 400 realistically to start and I've read nothing but good things on the Blouch set-ups. SR20steve, I had an F-250 too before I got to Iraq. Great trucks.

You should probably at least do pistons and some headwork. I have a cracked Dom 4 that's being sent to Blouch tomorrow to get upgraded to XTR that I won't be using.

The Dom 4 is a good turbo and is comparable to the ATP 35R stock location. Its definitely recommended to at least have some upgraded pistons with this power level. That being, said, I've tuned a good deal of cars with this power level with stock motors that are holding up just fine, but its definitely a gamble.
Thanks

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned anything above a stock turbo is a gamble so I understand the chance of things going BOOM I'm just trying to limit that. So if you were going for approximately 450-500 on 93 what would you recommend?
And im2ninja4u, let me know when you get your turbo back, I might be interested. Turns out I'm going to be in Iraq for about 4 months longer than I expected.

Blew a piston at 24k miles on the car with Dom 3 XTR tuned to 373whp at only 23psi. Just dropped in a new built block with Mahle pistons, H-Beam Rods, ACL bearings and will be expecting 425+ whp around 26-27 psi on CA-91.
We've seen 460whp/500wtq on the same dyno with my tuner, same turbo running meth.
The 3.0 XTR has great spool characteristics and makes great power to 6k rpm. But if you want power to continue past 6k rpm, look into the 4.0, but expect later spool time.
